Description:
The festive and Sunday postil with interpretations of the epistles and gospels, with the biographies of the saints and selected missal texts compiled by the French jansenist Nicolas Louis de Torneau (Letourneux). The first edition was published in 1716-1718, the second in Prague in 1724 by K.J.Hraba and the third - this time the foil edition (edited and improved by the engravings of M.Rentz and other artists) was published in Prague by Laboun's heirs in 1733-1734. In the text of Part One there are 126 and in Part Two 138 copperplate engravings by Michael Rentz and Joseph de Montalegre accompanied by figures of Christian virtues, heraldic Spork friezes signed by M. Rentz.

Condition:
The original leather binding is slightly frayed. Missing frontispiece and the title sheet in the first volume, missing frontispiece in the second volume, some pages have been damaged on the edges by moisture in the past. Otherwise it is a complete specimen in good condition. (ML)
